THE ISSUES ON THE TABLE
Our Values, Our Commitments to AD-1
-
TRUST
Faith in our institutions are at an all time low.
A functional democracy requires participation, but Americans and Nevadans alike are giving up on a political system that appears not to serve them.
AD-1 needs a representative that is willing to hear them when they say they are frustrated, a leader who recognizes how the status quo has left people behind and works to bring them back into the fold.
When we talk about “saving democracy,” we need to be talking about the reforms we need to restore trust, not just electing a certain candidate over another.
Ending gerrymandering, both racial and partisan, allows voters to choose their politicians instead of allowing politicians to choose their voters. Reforming Campaign finance laws, especially in the wake of Citizens United, will address the adverse influence corporations and billionaires have on who wins elections and what laws they pass. Eliminating barriers to voting, like voter ID laws, helps us in our endeavor to expand access to the ballot box. Our elections can be secure without adding additional burdens to voters.
I will support any policy that strengthens the virtue that the government belongs to the voters and reflects the will of the people.
To live by that example, I do not accept corporate PAC money. Businesses, especially small businesses, should have a seat at the table but never at the expense of everyday Nevadans.

A LIVABLE FUTURE (AND PRESENT)
We are at a tipping point.
Our policy choices will either take us away from the edge or send us flying over it.
AD-1 needs someone who will fight for the relief we need before it’s too late, someone who understands that we are in a fight for survival.
Affordability - Most of us are one setback away from financial ruin. Rising housing and healthcare costs with stagnating wages creates an impossible situation. We need to ensure that our community members aren’t priced out of our state and that we hold greedy billionaires accountable for giving us a shake down.
Sustainability - Being able to afford to live in Vegas won’t help anybody if our city becomes uninhabitable due to climate change and environmental disaster. I will support a policy agenda that invests in jobs, infrastructure, and protections that will deliver a green future where all Nevadans can thrive.
Public Safety - Being able to afford a home and exist in harmony with the environment is essential, but if Nevadans are disproportionately suffering from crime and violence, then our future is not secure. As a gun violence survivor, I know what it is like to live in fear. I support a policy agenda that invests in practical solutions that address the structural, root causes of safety issues.
Reproductive Justice - Bodily autonomy and freedom of family planning is at the core of the dream for gender parity and upward mobility for young people. You should be able to choose whether or not to have kids, and if you do have kids, you deserve a Nevada that’s affordable, sustainable, and safe enough to raise a family.

JUSTICE
We live in an era that demands moral clarity.
Justice, to me, is delivering what people need and deserve through a process that is fair and equitable.
AD-1 needs a champion for human rights and equal protection under the law.
Protecting our communities from unlawful detainment by ICE and their rights to due process needs to be a top priority in Carson.
Justice shouldn’t be expensive—for those impacted by the justice system or the taxpayers who fund it. The prison-industrial complex is a moral and economic failing that will take years to undo.
Reforming cash bail will put less of a strain on taxpayers and reduce the effect of income inequality in pre-trial detainment. Abolishing the death penalty addresses the exorbitant cost of having inmates on death row while also preventing inequity with fatal consequences.
Criminal law is not the only form of law that needs structural change. For example, the movement for summary eviction reform in Nevada will help protect tenants rights’ as they face eviction. Assembly Bill 283, which focused on summary evictions, was vetoed by the governor, but if it returns next session, I would proudly co-sponsor it.
Not My Seat, Yours
I am committed to making this campaign and my potential elected office a team effort.
I believe that if we want to usher in the next generation of leadership, we have to develop a pipeline for youth to ascend. Therefore, when I take my seat, I will be saving some for a cohort of young students too.
To give students a space to share their experiences and their opinions on policy, I will form a student advisory board comprised of Shadow Ridge High School students, NSHE university students, and trade school students from the district.
Additionally, in order to give the people of AD-1 the space to give their feedback, ask questions, and share their personal stories, I will host a minimum of two town halls per calendar year.
